From grade school through college the flow of information is integral to students learning more and growing as people. Much of this knowledge is passed from the teacher or professor to their students in the classroom. Many times there is more or supplementary information that needs to be shared with them by sending email newsletters through Gmail or other email services, like Flashissue.

While this is true at all stages of the education process the information that is being sent and who it is being sent to will vary at different stages of the students education.

Pre-K thru Middle School Classroom Newsletter

While many of the students may be handy at finding their way around an iPad, for most emailing is still a task that is out of their reach. At this stage the emails that a teacher is sending out will be targeted at the parents of the students.

The topics discussed in the school email newsletter could include a variety of classroom and school related topics from homework assignments and school projects to upcoming field trips and school plays. The personal email from the teacher to the parent will help to keep them aware of what is happening in their child’s classroom.

High School Classroom Newsletter

At this age most of the students will be very familiar with email and will likely have their own personal email accounts. In addition to their personal email they may also have email accounts provided by to them by their school.

In some schools they could be using on-line forum or wiki for each of the classes a student is taking as a resource where they can go to get information about their class. Even with these resources available for sharing information, it can still be beneficial for a teacher to send out an email newsletter to improve classroom communications.

With students ability to receive emails and parents that are still active in their child’s education an email newsletter is a great way for the teacher to communicate additional information to the students, parents or both together.

College Classroom Newsletter

Once in college the class structure may change for the students but the need for strong channels to exchange information both inside and outside the classroom doesn’t.

At the start of the semester the professor will provide a syllabus detailing the course work and most classes supplement the class work with an online forum but an email newsletter can be used to provide updates or additional information for the class.

A classroom email newsletter can also be used by students for study groups, organizations, or clubs to exchange information and arrange meetings.
While at all stages of students education information is provided by the teacher, a classroom email newsletter can be used to enhance the communication lines outside the classroom.
