We’re great believers in content curation at FlashIssue.

Whether you are curating content for a newsletter or curating it for your blog, it’s a powerful marketing tool that gets results that should translate to more engagement with your audience and ultimately more business.

In short, curating content gives you better SEO and more web traffic.

Try searching Google with the term “curated newsletters”. Here’s what i got. You can see the original article i was reading on ClickZ and a few places below you can see the curated version i created on our blog site.

curate, curation,

Here’s what the curated article on our site looks like. It’s called “The Instant Curated E-Newsletter That Your Prospects Will Love”

curation, curated

This begs the question, will curated articles ever out rank the original article in SEO terms. It depends on …

  • How well optimized the original article is for key words (in our example, it’s done well)
  • The original post will always be longer and have more repetition of the key words, which Google loves when ranking for SEO
  • How much additional commentary & analysis you add to the curated post when you create it on your blog (you can see the analysis i gave in our example, adds further SEO juice to the post)
Give all this, it’s still not a bad way to generate better SEO for your blog. The example article i curated took me just a couple of minutes to create and it was an article i was reading anyway, so it took no effort to add it to our blog site.
If you need a reminder of how to add curated articles to your blog read on here…
