Send an email newsletter to Google Groups in 4 simple steps with Flashissue.

With Google Groups, you can create online and email-based groups. There’s a lot you can do with Google Groups:

  • Engage in discussions about a specific subject.
  • Create a question and answer customer support group for a product, such as a piece of software your company has written.
  • Organize meetings, conferences, or social events among members of a group.
  • Find people with similar hobbies, interests, or backgrounds.
  • Read group posts through email, the online interface, or both.

Once of the biggest benefits to using Google Groups is that it provides a way for larger organizations to send bulk emails – like a daily email newsletter – to all their employees without hitting Google email sending restrictions.

If you’d like to know how to get set up with Google Groups you can either join someone else’s as a member or you can set up your own group and invite others to it (like a group for everyone in your company).

Historically, it has been difficult to create well design emails and send them to Google Groups because posting to a group through email requires  the email  to be sent directly from your Gmail account. Since Gmail’s editor is very limiting when it concerns design creation and authoring it’s been very difficult to create and send content based emails to Google Group members.

Since Flashissue is tightly integrated with Gmail and we send out your email newsletters directly through your Gmail account you’re now able access Google Groups when sending newsletters.

Here’s how to use Flashissue to send an email newsletter to Google Groups

Note: When you’re joining or setting up a Group make sure you have “Email” checked in the “How do you want to read this group?” section of the my Membership settings (you are receiving an email for every post to the group). Every group has a unique email address that you’re able to use for distributing content to the group.

For the purposes of this post we’ll assume that we have created a Google Group for our company called “Daily Newsletter” and we’ve invited 50 people to it and they are now members.

Step 1 – Create a new Google Contact in your Google address book called “Daily Newsletter” and add the unique email for the group as the primary email.

Step 2 – Login to Flashissue and create a mailing list with the “Daily Newsletter” email (the list will have just a single email in it).

Step 3Create an email newsletter using Flashissue.

Step 4 – Send the newsletter to the list called “Daily Newsletter”

Your newsletter will now be emailed to everyone who is included in the Google Group.
